Storm Clouds Over Whitby Abbey

It’s not just a Dracula thing. From the first bittersweet visit at the tender age of 14 with my first proper boyfriend; it lasted all of six weeks; and our families to Paul and I spending our honeymoon in a clapped out Bedford Dormobile on the old abbey car park, Whitby and it’s abbey have had a special place in my heart. Since then, over a period of nearly 50 years, there have countless family holidays, numerous day trips and now the goth and steampunk events I enjoy attending. A few weeks ago I convinced Paul to come to the steampunk event with me as my personal photographer; and a very good job he did as well; which meant an obligatory photoshoot around the abbey. We hadn’t been there long when these gorgeous clouds darkened the sky. It was far too good an opportunity to miss.
