Although my home has been in South Yorkshire for many years, I do like to return to my birthplace every now and then. And when I do I am constantly surprised at how much I took for granted, how much I didn’t see. Mind you, many of these places had blackened facades, had fallen into disuse or were in those dark and dingy areas we never went when I was growing up, so perhaps it isn’t so surprising after all.
