After the disappointing end to our Shell Island holiday we took advantage of a sunny day in July. With a long stretch of soft sand, the warm sea, fish and chips on the beach, donkey rides and the clatter of the arcades; only an hour away, Cleethorpes has it all. Whilst Lils and her best friend, Robyn, took off for some teenage girl time we adults and the boys relaxed and had fun on the beach. We ended the day feeding 2p coins into the slots of the machines in the penny arcades; winning enough tokens to exchange for some cheap plastic, cracker filler, toys; and tucking into candy floss. With Hudson nodding off in his pushchair we wended our way back along the seafront towards the car park. The tide had now come in so the boys went for a paddle in the warm sea but simply couldn’t resist wading in waist deep and splashing about. We all agreed we’d thoroughly enjoyed our grand day at the seaside.
